ELIZABETH CHONG: A RECIPE FOR LIVING

I’ve always loved stories and love my grandmother, my porpor Elizabeth Chong. This is a story about my porpor, about her relationship to food, and to her family. It is also a nationally significant story of migration, being a women, and adaptation to Australian culture. It was Elizabeth’s father, my great-grandfather who commercialised the “Aussie” Dim Sim after all, a uniquely Australian story!

This film gives us an opportunity to reflect on how do we choose to live, and love. As seen through my lens  I present the legacy she’s created, her life reflected on, aged 87.

I’m not a film maker. I knew that before I started this, and I certainly know it now. But I do know a good story.
